In December 1969 Hannah Nydahl and her husband Ole became the first western students of His Holiness 16th Gyalwa Karmapa Randjung Rigpe Dorje. Throughout 30 years Hannah Nydahl has been working as a translator and a confidant person of the high teachers of Karma Kagyu teachers. She had also been managing translation of Tibetan Buddhist philosophical and meditation texts into European languages, teaching in Karmapa’s International Buddhist Institute in New Delhi and helping Ole Nydahl to establish Diamond Way centres in the West. Hannah passed away in 2007.
